Our Story

To my family, I am the history keeper; the librarian, if you will. They come to me with questions regarding family members, their death certificates or their stories. When they need pictures or information regarding our family, they give me a call. My family's history and all of those who came before me are a passion that I've had for more than 10 years.

Small Town Ancestry formed from a dream that started out as a hobby, one which kept me and my mom awake into the early hours of the morning. The more I explored my own family line, the more I began doing research for others. Thus, the idea to do it for others professionally began. Not only would I get to empower my passion, but I could help others with it.

After researching what other genealogists charge, I discovered that there are plenty of companies that employ genealogists who will find what people are looking for, but there are not any local to the Texas Panhandle. These companies, though professionals, aren't personal and meaningful. They simply take your order and move on; I wanted to create a company that was personal and made the customers feel important and part of the work; part of the family. I wanted to give them something they could be proud of and someone they could turn to if they had questions, like my family has with me.

Being born and raised in the Texas panhandle, my roots here run rather deep; a fact I'm proud to admit. My knowledge of the area and most of the people in it has definitely helped when it comes to finding the information I'm looking for or knowing who to contact for more pertinent facts and stories. I'm proud of where I come from, the location and the people who helped make it the way it is, and I believe that others from this area are proud also.

It is Small Town Ancestry's mission to help people find their ancestors and where they came from to gain a sense of belonging. The facts, the documentation and the stories will be found; There is no place too far, nor a time too distant.
